In an effort to strengthen the self-reliance of Indonesia's national steel industry, PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing has established a strategic collaboration with the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). This synergy was further reinforced through a visit held on April 16, 2026, during which the JATIM Steel delegation was warmly received by the Head of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Dr. Sutarsis, along with the ITS Research and Development (R&D) team.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment between industry and academia to advance innovation, develop superior steel materials, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia's steel industry. Through this partnership, PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing and ITS aim to contribute to building a more resilient, independent, and sustainable national steel ecosystem.

This meeting marks a concrete step toward integrating the strengths of industry and academia in addressing increasingly complex global challenges, while also creating broader opportunities for collaboration in the development of advanced materials.

The collaboration is focused on materials research and development, enhancing engineering capabilities, and building a sustainable innovation ecosystem. By combining JATIM Steel's extensive industrial experience with ITS's academic excellence, the partnership is expected to generate technology-driven solutions that will strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia's steel industry at both regional and global levels.

More than just a partnership, this initiative represents a shared commitment to positioning Indonesia not merely as a consumer market, but as an independent and globally competitive producer of high-quality steel. Through this synergy, JATIM Steel and ITS aspire to contribute significantly to the realization of a stronger, more resilient, and self-reliant national steel industry.
